The creation of a new breed is a long and complex process. However new domestic Laikabreeds were generated quickly enough. Work has come to an end in the middle of 70th years of 20th century.
To the first 50th years of the 20th century, the livestock Russo-European Laika breed consisted of enough pedigree dogs possessing good field qualities, but with many distinctions in origin and exterior. In family trees there were strange blood lines, basically West-Siberian Laika. Many dogs from Moscow were imported, which had not a full pedigree.
Selection work with this breedingmaterial also has begun in the Moscow section Laiki.

The Primary goals of the breeding sector were; creation of stock-farms, cultural breeding of the Laiki, preservation and perfectionating of the high working qualities, fixing the typical black-and-white colour, improvement of the exterior, liquidation of viscous consequences from inbreeding.

Special role in becoming the Russo-European Laika has played the nursery VNIIO where E.I. Shereshevsky and V.E. Kun selection work performed.
They have lead the courageous experiment, to let champion Putik 65/L mate with his sister Pomka 76/L, born out the black-and-white dog Muzgar who has been taken out from Pomozdiska area Komi and West-Siberian Laika Pityuk II ( Hanty-type).

The result of this bond was rather equal black-and-white colour posterity with good exterior and working qualities.
This type of dogs also has laid down the basis of the first breed standard.

Champion Putik 1953

The result of this bond was rather equal black-and-white colour posterity with good exterior and working qualities. This type of dogs also has laid down the basis of the first breed standard. The descendants of Putik and Pomka steadily transferred the exterior type to offspring with feminine Zirjanksy type.
At the first stage of formation of the breed the closely related cultivation showed pauperization of the skeleton, appearance of pincer bite and also nervousness in behaviour was applied.

Therefore on a line of champion Putika 65/L, formed in 1956, the line Bublik-1 of S.D. Glebova has been added. The ancestor of a new line became Druzjok 103/L(son Bublik-11) from nursery VNIIO. Not much later the arrivals of Tsarok from P.P.Boris have been brought from trade areas of unknown origin.
By 1964 the sufficient livestock of the same dogs has been saved up.

The necessary quantity of breeding lines and a corpse Russian-European Laiki was formed. Russian-European Laiki won popularity among hunters of the country. In this year formation of factory breed basically has been finished, began transitive stage during which it was necessary to exclude such serious lacks as беднокостность?,острощипость? prolixity колодки?,atypical, red and grey colored dogs. In this period not all dogs had full geneological tables.

The method of linear cultivation with moderate inbreeding by competent breeders was applied, with crossing and with use of excellent arrivals from other cities: For example, zirbik kuznetsova (Jaroslavl), Tsarok 1015 Toezjilkina (Wologda), Champion Malitz 1228 (Twer), Murzik 1608 (Twer), Champion Bublik-II from Kolesova P.J.(Leningrad)

In 1965 the group of dogs from Dzoja M-60 from Bogolepof S.D. с.д has been generated. Which since 1967 has passed to a factory line. Dogs from this lines have considerably affected strengthening of skeleton, improvement of the form of the head, and have increased percent of presence of dark eyes. All this has allowed to raise a level of the appearance of the breed quickly, to improve its working qualities.

To the beginning of 70th years of XX century in Moscow uniformity of the REL has improved. Working qualities have considerably increased. Leather of the Moscow selection began to differ high parameters at exhibitions and tests.

In 70th years of 20th century a new stage of breeding work has begun. At this time to manufacturers began to make more rigid demands, to breed dogs with the exterior "well" and with low degrees of field diplomas (III th degree) were not supposed.

On field tests in this year 310 dogs have been exposed, from them has received diplomas-190: Firsth degree-14 of dogs, II degree-56, III degree-120.

In 1979 from the existing breeding lines arised the line Karaja 1426/L by N.F. Rogova (20 class descendants), and in 1980 one more new line- a line of champion Zejk 1377/L from A.D. Karpushevskogo (40 class descendants- was added.
